On Thursday June 1st 1995, I started the Indie Blues Club at The Plough in Museum Street, Bloomsbury, and later moved it to The Royal George in Charing Cross Road. I produced a news/report sheet right from the beginning, and this became a sort of magazine. It was helped a lot by Pam and Phil Hughes, who used their Quark Express skills to fix the layout, and Richard Pinn, who provided cartoon strips and also tidied up my Alan the Insurance Agent cartoon and other contributions. I even ran to a few Christmas cards. The magazine ran to 45 issues and then the Royal George shut. The whole venture was extremely amusing and enjoyable most of the time. I tried a few sessions at the Arts Theatre Club in Soho but that was a dead loss. The magazines still have a little nostalgic appeal and I hope to eventually put a few extracts up on this site
