Statement of Intent.

As a child, I loved reading, and anything that involved writing, from the spelling and comprehension exercises of the day to attempting descriptions and stories. I found it exciting trying to describe the things I saw, or things imagined. As the years passed and I left school, I kept writing – scraps of nonsense in factory teabreaks, song lyrics in my first band, and then the joy of the creative writing component at college. After retiring from teaching I spent several years attending writing classes in London, which turned out to be very productive and enormous fun. This new website is to provide a space where I can expose some of my writing to public scrutiny.

This is a work in progress, it might be some time until I can put together suitable extracts. One obvious problem is that I intentionally included a lot of real people in my writing – including myself -thank you Martin Amis – people that I met along the way, people that I am still in contact with and see occasionally. I would need to ask them for written and signed permission or change the names and remove any recognisable characteristics.
